"Where's Jesus?" Photo Contest

Even when you get away for a few days or weeks, you never take a vacation from your faith. And the challenge of being a disciple is to follow the way of Christ wherever you go.  This summer, consider taking Jesus with you when you travel -- figuratively and literally!

Our summer theme is "Wherever you are, Jesus is with you" and a photo contest invites everyone to participate. You need not be a member of the congregation to enter or win. 

When you travel this summer (or even if you don't go anywhere special), bring along a 3D reminder such as a picture or figurine of Jesus and take a photo for our contest.  If you don’t have a Jesus to take with you, call the church and we can provide you with a finger puppet Jesus.

Prizes will be awarded for several categories such as, “Most Creative”, “Farthest Away”, "Most Festive," "Wish I Were There," "Most Biblical," "Making the Ordinary Holy," "Best Outreach," "Best Caption."

While this is a somewhat silly and fun reminder to be on the look-out for the presence of the holy in your summer activities, our hope is that it will deepen our awareness of the way the divine is present in our lives. It could be in the beauty of a sunset, or in a situation that needs the justice of Jesus, like an oil-polluted Gulf beach. Use the photo contest as an opportunity to share with others how you see or hope Jesus is present in the world.

In September during worship, we'll invite folks to tell their stories of Jesus--to share with us where the divine was visible in their summer adventures.

Photos and an optional caption must be submitted by September 20. Electronic submission via email to contest@elumc.org is preferred, or print versions can be delivered to the office Monday through Thursday between 9-1. Photos should be accompanied by the name of the photographer, address, phone number and an email address if available.

Contest winners will be announced during the worship service on September 26. You do not need to be present to win. Winners not present at 10am worship on Sunday the 26th will be contacted that week. Photos become the property of the church, may appear in our publicity and will not be returned to contestants.
