Christian Education

What is Our Vision for Christian Education?

Our vision is shaped by Seasons of the Spirit, the curriculum we have chosen for our children and youth.

Curriculum:

Seasons of the Spirit is a curriculum for all ages based on the Revised Common Lectionary. Over a three-year period, students will experience Scripture from every part of the Bible. Focusing on the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the themes throughout each year follow the Christian Year, beginning with Advent. Each person in the congregation will hear and experience the same Bible story or theme at the same time, but in a way that is appropriate for their particular age level, learning style, and stage of faith development.

Theological Foundations

Our vision is to provide God's people with lectionary-based, ecumenical resources that empower all ages to be transformed in Christ as they:

  • explore meaning and mystery in the Bible;
  • celebrate in worship, sacraments, education, and service;
  • engage in ministries of love, justice, and witness;
  • and live in inclusive communities of faith shaped and led by the Holy Spirit.

Grades Preschool - 5th:
Time: 10:00 AM on Sunday

Children in grades 5 and under begin the morning in church with their families. Near the beginning of the service, they are invited up to the front of the sanctuary to hear the "Children's Sermon". At its conclusion, they leave for their appropriate classes.

Junior & Senior High: Time: 8:30 AM on Sunday

Junior and Senior High meet separately before the worship service. Classes last one hour and are followed immediately by the now famous IRON MAN BREAKFAST

Summer Session:
Time: 10:00 AM on Sunday (June 17 - Sept 8)

During the summer we offer a single class that includes K - 5th grade. The children leave church after the Children's Sermon and meet in the Church Parlor for the remainder of the time
